BOARD MEETING MINUTES

August 1, 2005

 

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Chairman Ken Anderson. Don Clements, Keith Larson, Burdette Nelson, Karene Uhe, Doreen O’Donnell, Steve Highman, Rosie McCullick and Laurie Copus were in attendance.

 

Proof of proper notice was shown.

 

The minutes of July 14, 2005 were read. Nelson made a motion to approve the minutes. Clements seconded. All in favor; motion carried.

 

Nelson made a motion to approve disbursements totaling $58,238.17, which includes payment to Lepke Excavating for the FEMA riprap project on E. River Rd., and to Kraemers for gravel. The Applied Tax Credit payment to the county of $42,858.28  will be held until the state pays the town. Clements seconded. All in favor; motion carried.

 

Clerk presented a bill from Olchefski Checkwriting Systems. The board reiterated its decision not to continue with the insurance policy. Update on the polling place equipment which the township must purchase because of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA): Funds were appropriated to the state by the federal government to help pay for voting equipment, and the state has budgeted $6,000 per polling place to purchase voting equipment. The funds will also be used for set up and testing of the new equipment. The State Elections Board plans to include all programming and maintenance costs associated with the accessible voting equipment for the spring and fall elections of 2006 as part of the initial purchase.

 

No new business.

 

The next meeting is August 15, 2005, 7 p.m.

 

Anderson made motion to adjourn at 7:23 p.m. Clements seconded. All in favor; motion carried.
