REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Kickapoo Town Hall, Readstown, Wisconsin

October 3, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. by Ken Anderson. Karene Uhe, Burdette Nelson, Don Clements, Keith Larson, Doreen O’Donnell, Judy and Tim St. Clair, Hugh Harper, and Jim Holmberg were in attendance. Dan Due arrived at 8:30.

 

Proof of proper notice was shown.

 

The minutes of September 15, 2005, were approved as read.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Current checkbook balance is $107,817; October Quarterly Transportation Aids are approximately $23,000; a shared revenue check will arrive in November; three bills are outstanding from August: Olson, L. Coleman and A. Hankins. Clerk instructed to re-send Coleman and Hankins bills; Kenny will take care of Olson. Nelson made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Clements seconded. All in favor; motion carried.

 

Anderson motioned to approve accounts payable of $34,937.26, which includes a $31,611.70 payment to The Kraemer Company. Nelson seconded. All in favor; motion carried.

 

Clerk showed the board an MFL withdrawal tax worksheet, and the contract from the Vernon County Humane Society. Resident Al Buss has donated a scanner to the town; Tim and Judy St. Clair donated a laptop computer. They set up the printer to be used with the laptop for aerial photo and GIS overlays. The board set a charge of $3 per 11” x 17” copy.

 

The Budget Hearing and Special Town Meeting to set the tax levy date were set for Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005, at 7 p.m.

 

The board discussed items to be included in the budget, such as legal fees and the SVRS contract with the county.

 

Ken is waiting to hear from Scott Construction about the cost of chips to mix with sand for the winter. Anderson made a motion to purchase a steel $7,400 sander. Clements seconded. All in favor; motion carried.

 

The board discussed applying to the TRIP Program to straighten E. River Road between Pope’s and Huisman’s.

 

New Business: H. Harper asked for a copy of the proposed citation ordinance. T. St. Clair suggested that the board set up an account with Office Depot in La Crosse and get an Advantage Card, which would make them eligible for a 10% rebate on all purchases. Clerk was instructed to apply.

 

The next meeting is set for October 18, 2005, at 7 p.m.

 

At 8:15 p.m. Anderson motioned to adjourn. Clements seconded. All in favor; motion carried.

NOTICE

            PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the town board of the Town of Kickapoo will consider the adoption of an ordinance creating Chapter 1-3-1 of the municipal code of the Town of Kickapoo, Vernon County, Wisconsin, authorizing the issuance of citations for violations of the Municipal Code of Ordinances and establishing a bond schedule, at 7 p.m. on October 18, 2005, at the town hall.

       You are further notified that a copy of said proposed new ordinance will be on file and open for public inspection by appointment in the office of the town clerk for a period of two weeks commencing Thursday, September 29, 2005, in accordance with Wis. Stat. 66.0103.
