Chairman Ken Anderson called the meeting to order at
Jay Walsh, Town Assessor, reported on the annual conference he attended. The use value category will increase for 2006 and probably for the next several years after having declined for the past few years. This includes any agriculture use land – tillable acreage, pasture, and CRP. Our equalized value will also increase by about 20% as previously reported to the Town Board.
The Treasurer’s report indicated the checkbook balance of $106,377 and accounts payable of $69,668. Karene is working on the tax bills and plans to get them in the mail the beginning of next week (around Dec 12).
Accounts payable was approved at $69,667.70, which includes payment to Scott Construction of $56,790.95. Burdette moved to approve payments and Don seconded.
Robert Miller presented the Town Board with the final draft of the first official town newsletter. This issue will be included with the tax bills and future issues will be mailed each quarter. Several town residents have donated time and money to publish the newsletter. It includes information on where residents can get news regarding town business. Discussions included: taxpayers vs residents (such as renters) receiving the newsletter, quality of paper, and making the newsletter publication a possible budget item for 2007. Jim Holmberg suggested asking for suggestions of articles that people want more information on. These would be directed to the Town Board for consideration.
(Clerk note: The Nov minutes should have read 250 copies per issue rather than 250 issues.)
The clerk’s report included a UDC report from the State Building Inspector, MFL change orders from the state, and notice that our website now has a search engine.
Dave Wright from Rural Insurance reported that the premium for the town insurance policy will decrease slightly for next year. This includes liability and insurance on all town property. The renewal date is Jan 1st each year. Dave will check on replacement values on the 1993 cat grader, 1977 Ford mower, and the John Deere loader. The three buildings are insured for $157,249, which automatically goes up 3% per year. Dave will get a breakdown for each building. Workman’s Comp will go up $193 for next year. This figure is determined by the state based on claims within various categories across the state.
There was no new business.
The next meeting will be
