REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Kickapoo Town Hall, Readstown, Wisconsin

October 18, 2006

 

Ken Anderson called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Keith Larson, Don Clements, Karene Uhe, Doreen O’Donnell, and assessor Jay Walsh were in attendance. Burdette Nelson arrived at 7:14.

 

Proof of proper notice was shown.

 

The minutes of October 3, 2006, stand as read.

 

Treasurer’s report: Current checkbook balance is $102,124. $23,500 in transportation aid arrived this month. Outstanding bills: B & T Properties.

 

Accounts Payable: $5,715.88 approved, payroll and disbursements.

 

Jay Walsh addressed the board. New state figures: residential equalized value for the township is currently down from 97% to 83%. Woodland valuation is down, from 100% to 79%. For 2007 assessments must be brought up to 100%. Jay proposed revaluation of the entire township, visiting each property in the township and assessing changes. He advises that this should be done every five to ten years. The last assessment was done in the early to mid-1990’s. Ken made a motion to have the township reassessed. Burdette seconded. Jay will begin now and give an update of revaluation status on the first meeting of each month.

 

The board endorsed the proposed budget.

 

Old business: the budget hearing is set for November 9, at 7:00 p.m.

 

New Business: Chuck Norman will be approached to serve as a poll worker. His understanding of computers will help in the use of the handicapped voting machine. Doreen will contact him regarding poll worker training on the machine to take place on October 26.

 

Reminder of upcoming important dates: regular board meeting is November 1, 7 p.m.; general election is November 7, 7 a.m.- 8 p.m.; budget hearing is November 9, 7 p.m.

 

Don made a motion to adjourn at 8:48 p.m. Burdette seconded. All in favor; motion carried.
