Treasurer’s report: The checkbook balance as of today is $112,344. The town received a tax bill for the 10 acres the town took over with the roads in the new development. Some statistics: there were 428 tax bills sent out this year, compared to 394 last year; this year there are 1,191 parcels, and last year there were 1,106 parcels. The board gave instruction to re-bill B&T for culverts, and to add to the bill the cost of the road signs for the new development. There are three people who owe taxes from 2004. Two of them called recently to ask the amount that they owe, and to state that they will be paying the bill soon. One check has already been received.
Burdette made a motion to approve accounts payable of $47,735.58, which includes the balance of the Scott’s bill. Ken seconded. All in favor; motion carried.
Dave Wright from Rural Insurance addressed the board regarding the Workman’s Comp and the Business policies. Workman’s Comp: 2006- $2,495; 2007- $2,963. The reason for the increase is that the rate for municipal workers went up statewide. Business: 2006- $4,292; 2007- $4,321. The increase includes insurance for the voting machine, and Rural is increasing insurance on all buildings statewide six percent. Dave explained new and expanded coverages offered by Rural:
1) Increase in medical payments. The current coverage is $5,000; Rural is offering $10,000 for an additional $40/year. The board approved this increase.
2) Un- and underinsured motorists: The current coverage offered is $300,000; this coverage can be increased to $500,000 for another $15/year. The board approved this increase.
3) New coverage- Employee & volunteer worker personal and auto coverage for $19/year. The board approved this coverage.
4) New coverage- Towing: up to $500/towing limit per incident for the cost of $56/year. The board approved of this coverage.
The board viewed current UDC and MFL Transfer order reports.
Voting machine contract info: The current warranty is good through June 2111, and then (at 2006 figures), it will cost $945 for another 4.5 years. Coding of cartridges is covered in current contract through 2007. The town will need to budget $250/election to pay for coding after that time.
Ken submitted the list of poll
