REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Kickapoo Town Hall, Readstown, Wisconsin

September 4th, 2007

Ken Anderson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Don Clements, Ray Key, Chuck Norman, Karene Uhe, Keith Larson, Doreen O’Donnell, Burdette Nelson and Harley McMillin were in attendance

Proof of proper notice was shown.

The minutes of August 22nd, 2007 stand as read.

 Upon review of payables, Don made the motion to approve total disbursements of *$17,100. Ken seconded. All in favor: motion carried.

Flood Damage Recovery Issues:

There has been no word from FEMA as of yet.

Ken Anderson estimates that the total damage will be in the neighborhood of $300,000. The bulk of expense will be in machine-hour time for dozers and truck hauling and a large quantity of gravel and rock being hauled from the various quarries in the area.

 

At present there is $128,700 in the town treasury but not necessarily available for road maintenance due to the $5,000 per mile state limitation.

It is noted that existing seal coating on town roads has prevented much of the flood damage as has occurred in neighboring townships. Damage to seal coated roads general in the Town of Kickapoo has been minimal.

Legal council from the town attorney suggests that a special meeting be called to get input from the electorate and permission if needed to increase the road budget, borrow money and or raise the tax levy as necessary. Legal council will be asked to attend the next regular board and the special meeting if available. Special meeting is targeted for the first or second week in October.

 

CLEANUP DAY – will be Saturday, September 29^th, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00p.m.

 

Audience to visitors: Harley requested a second River Road Sign at County Highway U because it is very easy to miss the turn.

Date for next regular board meeting – Thursday, September 20th, 2007, at 7:00 pm at the town hall.

Ray made motion to adjourn at 8:40 pm. Ken seconded. All in favor; motion carried.
