Kickapoo Board of Supervisors
February 5, 2008
Attendees: Ken Anderson, Don Clements, Ray Key, Keith Larsen, Karene Uhe, Harley McMillen. Chuck Stelzner, Eric Gilgenbach, Jim Holmberg, Ray Hummel, and Alan Buss
The meeting was called to order at 7:07 P.M. By Chairman Ken Anderson. Proof of proper notice was given.
Minutes were read for the January 22 meeting. Ken made a motion to accept the minutes as read and the motion was seconded by Ray.
Accounts payable in the amount of $15,026.80 was approved with Ken Anderson making the motion to accept with a second from Ray. Chairman Ken Anderson reported that the FEMA check had been received and deposited in the bank.
Harley McMillen, Clerk of the Kickapoo Township read a letter from his physician requesting that he take a 3 month leave of absence. Mr McMillen submitted a letter to the Board requesting a leave of absence for three months. Ray made the motion to accept the temporary leave of absence and was seconded by Ken.
A motion was made by Don and seconded by Ray to hire Alan Buss to fill the position is temporarily being vacated. Mr Buss indicated his willingness to accept the position.
Ken Anderson and Ray Key offered to clean the bathroom before the date of the presidential primary.
Ken made the motion to raise the salary of the newly hired patrolmen from $12.50 to $15.00 an hour. The motion was seconded by Don Clements. Unanimously passed.
The Board of Supervisors decided not to purchase the “All in One fax”. The clerk indicated that he would notify Tim St Clair so that he could pick up the fax.
Ken Anderson made a motion to refund Sam Miller $75.00 for snow plowing as his driveway cannot handle the township equipment. Don seconded the motion and the motion was passed.
The clerk requested that the minutes of the meeting show the appreciation of the township for Steve Clements and Don Clements in preparing Marlene Norman's driveway for families and friends attending Chuck Norman's funeral services.
Several members of the audience requested that they be allowed to develop a proposal for next year's winter plowing of driveways that would include criteria to be used to determine fees for driveway plowing.
The date of the next meeting was set to be February 26 at 7:00 P.M. Ken made the motion to adjourn and was seconded by Ray.
