Regular Meeting of the Kickapoo Township Board

April 29, 2008



Attendees: Ken Anderson, Don Clements, Ray Key, Karene Uhe, Harley McMillen, Robin Davis, Ray Hummel, Ray Alexander, Jim Holenberg


The meeting was called to order at 6:07 P.M. by Chairman Ken Anderson. Proof of proper notice was given.

Minutes of the April 10 meeting were read and approved as read.

Accounts payable was approved by a motion of Ken Anderson and seconded by Don Clements.

The clerk’s report included a request a buy a new four drawer file for the office. Ken made a motion to approve the expenditure and was seconded by Don Clements.

The treasurer’s report regarding the outstanding loan was tabled until the next meeting. Alan Buss and Harley McMillen are completing the change over to the Quicken book system and by the next meeting accurate balances would be available to the Board for a complete review of the financial status of the Township as well as anticipated expenditures. Karene, Al, and Harley will be working on this project in the next two weeks.

The Open Book will be held Thursday, May 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Board of Review will be held on May 19 from 10:00 AM to 12 noon and if necessary Tuesday, May 20 from 10:00 to 12 noon.

A gravel bid submitted by The Kraemer Company for 2008 was accepted by the Council. The price for Township gravel will be $6.45 per cubic yard. The price for rock delivered to Town of Kickapoo residents would be $9.50 per cubic yard.

Bids for Seal-Coating of gravel surfaced roads were opened. Scott Construction, Inc. and Fahrner Asphalt Sealers LLC submitted bids. No action was taken.

Ken Anderson read a letter from Mike Lepke indicating his interest in doing snow plowing for residents of the Kickapoo Township. A motion was made by Ken Anderson that called for the Town of Kickapoo would not plow any private driveways next winter. The motion was seconded by Ray. Passed with a unanimous vote.


Audience to visitors: Ray Alexander asked when the township would be replacing the fencing on Glass Road. The council set the date of May 13 at 5:30 PM at the Township Hall to inspect the fence in question.


The date of the next meeting is Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 6:00 PM.


Ken made a motion to adjourn and seconded by Don. The meeting adjourned at 7:35 P.M.
