REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES
Kickapoo Town Hall, Readstown, Wisconsin
February 10, 2009
Attendees: Ken Anderson, Ray Key, Don Clements, Karene Uhe, Harley McMillen, Ray Hummel, Hugh Harper, Bruce Hansen, Burdette Nelson, James Holmberg, Steve Clements, Doug Brown, guest Town Chairman of Town of Scott, Nicholas McKittrick, Rural Mutual Representative
Meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM. Proof of proper notice was given.
Minutes from the January 6, 2009 were approved as read
The clerk's report: poll workers for 2009 will be Marie Clements, Chief Clerk, Marlene Norman, Deputy Clerk, Betsy Gilgenbach, Ruby Key, and Ray Key. At the Spring primary election. Marie Clements, Marlene Norman, and Ruby Key will be working the election. Gunderson Lutheran is offering a a Department of Transportation Mandatory Supervisor Training for supervisors of employees who have Commercial Drivers License. The training will be March 18 in La Crosse. The decision to attend was tabled to the next meeting.
The clerk read a letter indicating the township had received Road Salt sub site inventory records. The records were given to Steve Clements to maintain. Mr. David Senfels notified us that we would be receiving a letter that we were out of compliance since we had not been mainting these inventories. When we receive our letter, he gave the clerk the response that would be necessary to put us back in compliance.
The treasurer gave her report The checking account has $350,542, the savings account has 259.609 and the certificate of deposit has $59,409 with a 2.25% interest rate. Upon the recommendation of the treasurer, Ken Anderson made a motion to pay our outstanding loan with a second by Don Clements. The pay off the loan will be in the amount of $209,346 payable to Peoples State Bank.
The Rural Mutual representative reviewed the current insurance amounts on our buildings, equipment and liabilities. He will report back to us if we need to make any changes in the amounts of the insured levels of various items.
Ken Anderson reported that the township had received from FEMA a check in the amount of 4100,621.33. Karene Uhe asked why she had not been informed of the receipt of the check since the statues require her to handle the deposit of all money to our accounts. Mr. Anderson indicated that if a check is received by him, he will let the treasurer know so that she might be able to deposit it.
Ray Key will be writing the Request for Gravel Bids and the Request for Bids For Seal coating. All bids will be sent to our post office box and any questions will be directed to Ken Anderson's home phone number. The bids will be due March 6, 2009.
The Assessors bids will be open at our next regularly scheduled board meeting March 10, 2009.
The clerk sent a form to the County Highway department indicating our interest in joining the County to obtain salt. We requested 60 tons of salt for next year
Ken Anderson made a motion to table the agenda item “Discuss town meeting minutes that are printed” to the next board meeting. Ray Key seconded the motion.
Audience to Visitors: The suggestion was made that if the township is to accept new roads that a requirement be made that the road must be seal coated before acceptance. The suggestion was taken under consideration by the board. A question arose concerning Kraemer's responsibility for the Song Bird Lane having an adequate foundation being placed on the road. It was noted that Forbes- Adams had done excavating for the road. Ken Anderson said that Kraemer would be meeting with the board sometime in the future.
The date for the next meeting is Tuesday March 10, 2009 at 6:00 PM.
Ken Anderson made a motion to adjourn and Don Clements seconded the motion.. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM.
